My sculptures are very classical with the clear objective of exciting the senses of the observer as much as possible. The first impression may be a reclining woman, but then the observer, using his imagination, may make his own discoveries and quite different forms will appear. The empty spaces contribute a great deal to this experience.
I mostly work with bronze, because, more than any other material, bronze has this fantastic glow and the various shades of its patination accentuate each in their own way the many forms of the sculpture. I value the classical craftsmanship part of the process, such as grinding and polishing the sculpture very much. Partly because I like this kind of work, and partly because it makes the forms exceptionally lovely and soft.
It is my desire to implant in each sculpture an allure so strong that not only does it make the sculpture inviting, but it forces the observer to run his hand, his fingers over it, feeling form and space: The sculpture turns into an entirely new and different sensual experience.
